How to Renew Your Health Insurance Plan

Do I need to re-enroll in Obamacare for 2016?
If you’re happy with your current plan and don’t receive financial assistance to help pay for it, you won’t have to do anything. Your insurance company will roll your plan over to 2016. (You may want to check on the price, though, as it’s likely higher.)
Everyone else needs to re-enroll. Why?

  • Plans and prices change, sometimes dramatically, year to year.
  • In order to continue receiving financial assistance (premium tax credits), you need to re-verify your eligibility.
  • Life changes may influence your household size or household income.
  • Subsidy calculations change year to year (even if your household size and income haven’t changed). You need to know how much assistance you qualify for.

How to Re-Enroll in Obamacare

The good news is we’ve made it simple for you to re-enroll. The enrollment platform we utilized last year has improved, making it even more user-friendly and efficient.

(Note: The 2016 plans and prices will go live November 1. If you need a sneak peek, we may be able to help. If you live in another state, just contact us.)
If you’re confident you know which plan you want (i.e. if you want to keep the same plan), you can easily find it and re-enroll yourself in a few minutes. Of course we’ll be happy to help you if you’d prefer.
Because there are new plans and prices each year, it’s a good idea to compare your options. We can give you very specific suggestions of which plans and companies to consider, and which to avoid (there are some of each!)
You are welcome to contact us with questions. If you’d like to schedule a time to talk, let’s go ahead and set it up (our calendars will start filling up soon!).
