Obamacare Open Enrollment for 2018 is November 1 – December 15.
Qualified individual health insurance plans can now be purchased only during the annual open enrollment period, unless a life event qualifies you for a special enrollment period. Unfortunately, outside of those special circumstances there’s nothing we can do to get you enrolled in an Obamacare health insurance plan.
So you need to make sure you enroll between November 1 and December 15! And, prior experience has taught us that it gets tricky if you wait until the last day or two to do it. Let’s knock it out now!
How to get Health Insurance Outside of Open Enrollment
Outside of open enrollment, your best option is a short-term health insurance plan.
A short-term health insurance plan will provide you with solid catastrophic protection in case something happens. These policies typically don’t come with a lot of bells and whistles (which is why we suggest supplementing it with an inexpensive telemedicine plan to save on doctor visits.
While there are a few drawbacks (short-term plans aren’t for everyone), they are by far the best option for solid health insurance protection outside of Obamacare.
We’ve put together a package of plans that you could bundle together to get very thorough insurance protection outside of Obamacare. We call it the “Nobamacare Plan.”
Health Sharing Ministries
One alternative to health insurance is participating in a health sharing ministry. These organizations are not for everyone, but if the fit is right they can provide a much more cost-effective solution to meeting your healthcare needs. And you can enroll anytime during the year.
