Coventry extends pre-Obamacare Health Plans

There’s good news for some people with health insurance policies with CoventryOne in North and South Carolina (and that includes many of our clients).
If you purchased coverage before the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (“Obamacare”), you were originally told that you would have to change to the new, compliant plans after August 31, 2014.
CoventryOne has recently announced that you can keep those plans through December 31, 2014.

You’ll be getting a letter from Coventry that explains:

  • They will be extending your current plan to the end of the year.
  • This means you do not need to re-enroll in another plan for the remainder of 2014.
  • Your monthly premium will stay the same for the remainder of the year.
  • For the rest of 2014, your deductibles, out-of-pocket costs and benefit limits will not reset.
  • If you previously received a Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC), it lists the benefits available through December 31, 2014.
  • You will not be able to renew your pre-ACA plan at the end of this year.
  • They will send you more information about their 2015 plan options closer to Open Enrollment (but you should contact us to examine all of your options, including other insurance companies).

The Obamacare Open Enrollment for 2015 plans runs from November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015. AC Forrest will be ready to help you compare your plan options and select the plan that best fits your family.
