May is Disability Awareness Month

It’s worth mentioning that May is Disability Awareness Month, and while that isn’t really something we celebrate at a cookout with our friends (unless you’re just looking for an excuse – in which case we say go for it), it does present a good opportunity for us to ask you to consider what would happen to you and your family if you lost your ability to earn an income. It’s not a pleasant thought, but it happens.
Disability insurance, or “income protection insurance” is an important component of a good financial and risk management strategy. To learn more about the risks of disability, (and they’re statistically greater than you think) check out www.DisabilityCanHappen.org. And most people are quite unprepared for the consequences of missing a paycheck for even a month.
To explore a disability policy for you or your small business, we invite you to contact us. Individual disability insurance is frankly not cheap, but it can really make a huge impact on your family. Disability insurance coverage for a small business, however, can be a surprisingly affordable benefit to provide your employees. We’ll be happy to discuss the options and show you some numbers.
