Some Facts About Breast Cancer

I’ll admit to being a little weary of seeing pink everywhere. But did you know*:

  • Except for skin cancers, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women in the United States.
  • It is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death among women.
  • About 200,000 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the United States this year.
  • About 2,000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
  • There are approximately two and a half million breast cancer survivors alive today in the United States.

Here are some things a woman can do to decrease her risk of breast cancer:

  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Exercising
  • Abstaining from using tobacco
