A short-term health insurance plan is a very cost effective way to get good, major medical insurance for a defined period of time (up to 12 months). These plans are essentially for major-medical coverage only but provide good protection at a variety of deductibles. (Obviously the higher the deductible – what you pay before they pay – the lower your premium).
Short-term health plans are primarily designed to fill in the gaps between plans (such as being between jobs, waiting to become eligible to participate in the health plan with a new employer, or for students who are no longer covered on their parents’ plan). They also work very well for anyone who needs solid catastrophic health protection at a price that is usually much lower than a traditional health insurance policy.
The other nice thing about short-term health insurance is that the application is short (around 5 yes/no questions) and the underwriting is very limited. You can typically have the policy in place tomorrow if you would like to do so.
We offer short-term health plans through several companies, but think that HCC Life has the best plan due to their competitive pricing, the inclusion of a $65 copay for a visit to an urgent care center (NOT an ER), and service. To learn more about short-term health insurance, get a quote, and apply (it takes less than 5 minutes), follow this link to HCC. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
