Do you have a Medicare Supplement Plan with Carolina Care Plan?

You won’t next year.
Carolina Care Plan is exiting the market in South Carolina, so you will have to find another Medicare supplement provider for 2014. The company will mail a notice informing you of their decision on October 1.
Here’s what to expect and what you can do about it:
Medical coverage will end at midnight on March 31, 2014. For members who still have our coverage on March 31, 2014, and who are hospitalized or have a procedure scheduled around March 31, 2014, they will process claims in accordance with the terms of their policies. Members who are hospitalized on March 31, 2014, will be encouraged to call the Customer Care department for more information.
Obviously, you shouldn’t wait until then to make a change.
So what should you do?
The good news is that there are good options available with other companies – and there’s a good chance you could get a better price. To avoid this kind of situation in the future, we suggest you stick with large, reputable insurance companies who should provide stability and continuity moving forward.
There are a couple of those in the market. Contact us to get some comparison options with companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Mutual of Omaha.
