A Simple Obamacare Solution for Small Business

There’s a very simple way for your small business to respond to Obamacare:

Drop it. Forget it. Don’t worry about it.  Really?

Yes. The easiest way to handle health insurance under Obamacare is to drop your group health insurance plan.  Read on to see how and why this could work for you and your employees.

If you have fewer than 50 full-time employees you’re not required to provide insurance to your employees. And with all of the changes, they will now have no problem getting an individual health insurance policy on their own — regardless of their medical history. They may even qualify for government subsidies to help them pay their premiums.

Instead, you can offer benefits that are attractive to your employees and much more affordable to you. Dental insurance, for example, is popular with employees because they actually use it at least twice a year, and it’s much cheaper for you. You could also offer group disability insurance or other supplemental benefits.

It’s a win-win solution.

You win. You can get out of the health insurance game completely. You could provide a little bit of help towards employee premiums, but you won’t have the headache of selecting a plan, administering it, and dealing with questions and complaints.

And you will be in control of your costs.

Your employees win. Now they can pick their own plan instead of having you pick one for them. They may even get government subsidies that would be unavailable to them if you offered coverage. And now they’re getting other useful benefits from you, like dental insurance.

How is this possible? How can you implement this change?
