Answers to 5 Important Questions about Obamacare Open Enrollment 2021

questions about health insurance in south carolina

Open Enrollment begins November 1.

It’s almost time to choose an individual health insurance plan for 2021.

As always, we are here to help you understand your options and find the best fit for you and your family!

Short Answers to 5 Important Questions about Open Enrollment:

1. What’s new in 2021?

As is often the case, there are likely changes in your area. Many areas of South Carolina (including the Upstate) will have new health insurance companies in the mix this year. There will likely be changes to existing plans as well, so you’ll want to take a look at your options.

2. Will the election result in changes?

In the long run… maybe? Probably? Who knows?!? In the short run, no. Substantive changes take a long time to be implemented, so we are full speed ahead for 2021.

3. If I like my plan, do I have to do anything?

Maybe not. If you like your plan, and there aren’t notable changes to your household size and income, you can “passively re-enroll” (i.e. do nothing) for next year. Just note there are likely at least minor changes to your plan (like copay or out-of-pocket amounts).

4. How can I get pricing?

We will continue to offer you an efficient, streamlined enrollment experience through our authorized third-party platform. Beginning November 1 you’ll be able to see custom plans and prices on the Marketplace that takes includes a calculation of your subsidy eligibility.

Click here to get there for South Carolina.

Click here to get there for Georgia.

(If you’re in another state, we may still be able to help you – just ask!)

5. What if I’m not eligible for a subsidy?

In South Carolina you will find lower prices off the Marketplace. Contact us for more info. (And you can actually see those prices NOW).

You might also want to consider an alternative like short-term health insurance plans.
